When We Use Apps
I’ve been noticing that I don’t really “plan” to use apps on my phone anymore — it just kind of happens throughout the day. Like when I’m waiting for something, taking a short break, or even just out of habit, I’ll unlock my phone and open something without thinking. It’s very different from how I use my laptop, where I usually have a clear reason. I’m curious, in what situations do you usually open apps on your phone?

For me it’s mostly those in-between moments — waiting in line, sitting in transport, or even during short pauses at work. I rarely sit down and say “I’m going to use my phone for an hour.” It’s more like quick interactions that add up over time. I actually read this https://www.oxpoll.com/blog/why-mobile-sessions-feel-different-from-every-other-digital-routine/ and it explained why these short sessions feel so natural. Since then I’ve noticed how often I reach for my phone without even realizing it. I try to be a bit more intentional now, but it’s definitely a habit.
